The Art of Traditional Shaving

The Art of Traditional Shaving
29/09/2025

A barber shop is more than just a place to groom hair and beards: it is a space where skill, precision, and attention to the client come together to create a true ritual of well-being. In recent years, men’s grooming has seen a renewed focus on the quality of each gesture, the care of products, and the overall experience, reestablishing barbers as key figures in beard care and personal style.

In this context, in Rome, the barbering world has found a standout practitioner in Daniele Maullu, professional barber, content creator, and entrepreneur, owner of two salons, Barberia Maullu and Barberia Tondere. For Daniele, barbering is more than a profession: it is a daily opportunity to combine skill, precision, and attentiveness, creating moments of care and well-being for every client.

“The best part of this work is the relationship you build with your clients. Many have become friends: when they come to the barbershop, it sometimes doesn’t even feel like work, it becomes a moment of enjoyment,” says Daniele.

This philosophy is evident in every gesture, where quality tools and artisanal skill are essential to achieving the perfect shave.

The return to the Art of Barbering

In recent years, the way men approach grooming has changed significantly. While clients once turned to general hairdressers, barbers have now regained their role as key figures in beard care and personal style.

“Today our clients are looking for a moment of pause from the daily hustle. When they come to us, we want them to feel completely at ease, as if they can truly disconnect for an hour,” Daniele explains.

Daniele’s work goes beyond technique: it embodies craftsmanship, attention to detail, and client care. Every gesture becomes a sensory experience, every tool and product tells a story, and each traditional shave is an opportunity to celebrate a craft that continues to evolve.

MVNDA RASVM, the Event Celebrating Traditional Shaving

On October 11 and 12, 2025, Daniele Maullu will bring his expertise to MVNDA RASVM in Rome, an event entirely dedicated to traditional shaving. More than just a festival, it is a true rite of shaving, featuring workshops, live demonstrations, exclusive talks, and a market of vintage razors and brushes.

Daniele explains:

“I traveled many miles to learn from the best barbers and discovered that each of them has a special ‘recipe’ for shaving. I wanted to share these experiences with everyone, not just a select few.”

The event will also be an opportunity to explore products, tools, and accessories with hands-on experiences. Takara Belmont will be the technical sponsor, providing professional workstations to experience the art of shaving most authentically.
